Cancer Prevention Tips: Limit consumption of red meats & avoid processed meats

Posted on: 12 Jan 2016

Limit intake of red meat (beef, lamb and pork) to less than 750g raw or 500g cooked a week. Avoid eating processed meats which includes meat preserved by smoking, curing or salting, or addition of chemical preservatives, including that contained in processed foods.

Eating a lot of red and processed meat can increase the risk of bowel cancer, and possibly stomach and pancreatic cancer. Eat smaller and fewer portions, or choose fish or chicken instead.
