Winner of Guinness Cork Jazz Festival Announced!

The winner of the Guinness Cork Jazz Festival Raffle was announced by the Lord Mayor of Cork Des Cahill at a packed house at the Metropole Hotel last night (Sunday, 30 October). The winner, John G. from Cork, said he was 'delighted to win the car' when we contacted him.

The partnership between Breakthrough and the Guinness Cork Jazz Festival was launched in September when Breakthrough took to the road in Cork and beyond for a fundraising raffle for a fabulous nearly new 161 C Renault Clio from Kearys, Cork.*

Fundraising Director at Breakthrough, Orla Dolan thanked everyone who supported the raffle “Congratulations to John for being the winner of the Renault Clio! Thank you to everyone who bought raffle tickets and supported our Raffle including the Guinness Cork Jazz Festival and Keary's Motors. Also a huge thanks to all our volunteers who have been selling raffle tickets across Ireland since September and on the streets of Cork for the past few days. We have just passed the €30,000 mark in funds raised which is a phenomenal amount to raise. Without the support of the public we would not be able to continue our research into poor prognosis cancers and so we are very grateful for your support”.

Breakthrough, a Cork based charity, is leading the way with research into cancers with poor prognosis such as ovarian, pancreatic, lung and oesophageal.  They have already progressed seven treatments progress from their research laboratory to clinical trial and work closely with multiple hospitals to ensure their research is responding to the needs of patients with cancers that do not respond to conventional therapies.
